Announcement of PQJ2027 (Physiology Quiz in Japan 2027)

The PQJ Secretariat is thrilled to announce that PQJ2027 will be held at the International University of Health and Welfare (IUHW) Narita Campus on February 27–28, 2027!

About PQJ

The Physiology Quiz in Japan (PQJ) is an annual quiz tournament organized entirely by university students in Japan. The only requirement for participation is being a university student—there are no restrictions regarding faculty, academic year, or country of residence. As the entire competition is conducted in English, university students from all over the world gather to compete in their knowledge of basic medicine, centering on physiology, while deepening international friendships.

We are delighted to announce that the International University of Health and Welfare has been selected as the host institution for the upcoming PQJ2027!

Competition Rules

• Eligibility for Contestants: University students worldwide (regardless of faculty, academic year, gender, or nationality).

• Eligibility for Observers: Anyone is welcome to attend and watch.

• Scope of Questions: Physiology and related fields of basic medicine.

• Language: English

• Team Composition: 2 to 5 members per team (No limit on the number of teams participating from the same university).

Message from the Host Team Representative

Ibuki Tsunoda, the representative from the host institution (IUHW School of Medicine), shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming event:

"In the previous tournament, our team, 'GÅTE,' achieved 2nd place globally and 1st place in Japan. Now in 2027, we are moving forward to the next stage alongside our new peers as the 'PQJ-IUHW 2027 Organizing Team.'Our roots lie in the name 'GÅTE,' which means 'riddle' or 'mystery' in Norwegian. Through this 'riddle' called the physiology quiz, we aim to bring domestic and international students together, expanding a 'circle of friendship' that connects us all.The stage for this event is Narita—Japan’s 'Sky-Gate.' In this very place, we aspire to open a new 'GATE' leading to the world and to the future.Creating this student-led competition is truly a venture into the unknown for us. By combining our past experiences with the passion of our new team members, we will shape a one-of-a-kind worldview that transcends borders and campuses. We vow to create an unforgettable, top-tier event together with all of you!"
